The 111th Operations Group welcomed a new commander during an assumption of command ceremony held on base April, 1, 2023.

Col. Lynn Lee assumed command of the 111th OG by accepting the unit’s guidon from Col. Deane Thomey, 111th Attack Wing Commander, who presided over the ceremony which was held during April's regularly scheduled drill.

Lee has an extensive and distinguished military resume. With over 20 years of service, more than 2,700 flight hours, and 911 combat hours as a command pilot, she is confident in leading the 111th OG, where she will oversee three squadrons and enable employment of the MQ-9 Reaper aircraft and cyber operations systems to their maximum potential.

“I believe in servant leadership,” said Lee. “I will always do everything in my power to take care of our Airmen and do what’s best for our people.”

Col. Deane Thomey, 111th Attack Wing commander, spoke to Lee’s regard for Airmen.

“She is obviously qualified,” said Thomey, “But, it is her care and concern for Airmen that sets her apart.”

Lee has deployed in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and OPERATION NEW DAWN, and has a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering. Having had many assignments, Lee said she is excited to be joining the 111ATKW.

“I was told there were some amazing people here at the Wing,” said Lee. “That has proven to be true. The people are truly what makes this Wing.”
