Pennsylvania National Guard members honored with Octavius V. Catto Medal citation
Deputy Adjutant General-Air of the Pennsylvania National Guard, Brig. Gen. Tony Carrelli, Joint Force Headquarters at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, congratulates Maj. Francisco S. Junkin, 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team operations officer, Reading, Pennsylvania, while Brig. Gen. Andrew Schafer, 28th Infantry Division assistant commanding general at Fort Indiantown Gap, congratulates Staff Sgt. Melvyn L. Mayo Jr., Medical Battalion Training Site instructor also from Fort Indiantown Gap, after Junkin and Mayo accept the Major Octavius V. Catto Medal Feb. 21, 2015, at The Union League of Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The award bears the name of the Civil War-era African American leader and civil rights martyr from Philadelphia and is awarded to Guardsmen who display exemplary service and community support.
