Korean Augmentation to the United States Army, otherwise known as KATUSAs, have worked side-by-side with the U.S. Army since July 1950. Korean men must serve a mandatory two-years in the Republic of Korea armed forces, and some volunteer for the KATUSA program. Becoming a KATUSA is no easy feat which requires proficiencies in English communication and extra training. Not all KATUSA applications have a guarantee of getting into the program. PFC Jang explains his job as a KATUSA and what it’s like working at AFN Daegu.
