Harrisburg, Pa. -- As we prepare to celebrate Veterans Day on November 11, Maj. Gen. Mark Schindler, Pennsylvanian’s adjutant general and head of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), wants to recognize and thank the nearly 800,000 veterans across the commonwealth who served our nation with honor and distinction. Veterans are the strength of our nation and taking care of them is an honor and our department’s top priority.
“Our democracy depends on the willingness of its finest men and women to step forward and to serve, to dedicate themselves to a greater cause, the cause of protecting our democracy,” said Schindler. “For more than two centuries, the veterans of our nation have been willing to serve and to sacrifice for a country and a cause they love more than their own lives. This has not changed. The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is grateful for your service.”
Schindler recorded a special Veterans Day Message and Governor Tom Wolf issued a special Veterans Day Proclamation that can be viewed online.
Schindler encourages all veterans, family members and advocates to sign up for the Veterans Registry at www.register.dmva.pa.gov to connect qualified veterans to many federal, state and county benefits earned through their military service.
