  • 111th Attack Wing supports Operation Allies Refuge

    Fifteen members of the 111th Attack Wing have activated in support of Operation Allies Refuge, the effort to relocate interested and eligible Afghan nationals and their immediate families who supported the U.S. Government efforts in their homeland, since Aug. 26, 2021. The 111th Airmen and women are on federal orders through at least the end of September to provide general base support such as security, logistics support and ground transportation duties as needed at Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst, New Jersey.

    With the shift in mission at the 111th Attack Wing from A-10 Thunderbolt II to the remotely-piloted MQ-9 Reaper, there are those in the community who are sometimes surprised that the Biddle Air National Guard Base in Horsham, Pennsylvania, is still open for business. Then drill weekend hits, and the base population swells to more than a thousand with 13 111th Attack Wing units, and units from the Army Reserve and Army National Guard conducting training on base. That’s when it becomes clear – Biddle Air National Guard Base is operational.

    Anna Richar believes in the American Dream because long before she was an award-winning woman in charge of family readiness, or a small business owner, she was a little girl whose family left the Old Country for New York City in search of a better life.   Richar, the daughter of Italian immigrants, is now the 111th Attack Wing Airmen and Family Readiness Program Manager at Biddle Air National Guard Base in Horsham, Pennsylvania, where she cares for military families serving to keep the American Dream she experienced alive.
  • 111th ATKW hosts PA State Representatives

    The 111th Attack Wing welcomed three Pennsylvania State Representatives to Biddle Air National Guard Base in Horsham, Pennsylvania, for an update to discuss issues important to the Wing, the base and the local community. Col. Deane Thomey, 111th Attack Wing Commander, hosted State Representatives Todd Stephens (151st District), Todd Polinchock (144th District) and Meghan Schroeder (29th District) for briefings from key 111th ATKW leaders and staff. The meeting included an update on installation efforts to address water quality concerns related to the base’s drinking water and storm water runoff.

  • Biddle ANG base sees future with fresh eyes, new vice commander

    A recent Department of Defense study cited that women make up only 20% of officers in the Air National Guard. And of that number, a mere 10% rise to the rank of colonel. Given those odds, Col. Rebecca Gray, the 111th Attack Wing’s current vice commander, kick started ANG’s vision for diversity—an organizational culture that values diversity and inclusion as highly as personnel strength and readiness— upon taking the position here a few weeks ago. Joining 111th ATKW Commander Col. Deane Thomey, who officially assumed command in April, Gray is half of the Wing’s brand-new power team leading the commonwealth’s Air Guardsmen. During Thomey’s assumption of command ceremony in June, he officially introduced Gray as his right-hand woman.

    The 111th Attack Wing, headquartered in Horsham, Pennsylvania, welcomed Col. Deane E. Thomey as their new wing commander during an assumption of command ceremony here June 13, 2021. The Commander of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, Brig. Gen. Michael Regan, presided over the ceremony recognizing Thomey, who officially assumed command of the 111th when he arrived here from the Pentagon in April of 2021.
  • 111th Attack Wing bids farewell to former commander

    BIDDLE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Pa. – The 111th Attack Wing said farewell to its former commander here today, in a ceremony honoring him for his service to the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. Col. William R. Griffin officially retired on April 1, 2021, when he reached his mandatory retirement date, and was recognized today for his 31 years of honorable service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the United States. The Commander of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, Brig. Gen. Michael Regan presided over the ceremony and delivered the keynote address.
  • 111th Med Group vaccinates wingmen, achieves top readiness rank

    The 111th Medical Group here has administered more than 900 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to airmen and department of defense civilians on base between Jan. 27, 2021 and May 20, 2021 while maintaining their top ranking for operational readiness in the Air National Guard. COVID-19 presented its challenges over the past year. But, the 111th Med Group displayed their resiliency by finding a way to keep themselves and their fellow wingmen safe while training and fulfilling additional mission requirements.

And while 111th Medical Group First Sergeant Natasha Maynes stands for those values, her personal principles remain paramount while donning the diamond – and she keeps it simple. It’s about helping people. All the people. Even before assuming the first sergeant role, her mantra of helping people was apparent to members of the 111th Attack Wing here.
